Add Private Equity and Venture Capital to Your Portfolio

How You Can Access Top-Tier Private Equity and Venture Capital Funds

image

Private Equity and Venture Capital have outperformed public markets over the last 25 years. Despite this, access to top-tier PE & VC funds has been largely limited to the top 1% of earners and industry insiders because of the multi-million dollar minimums required by most funds. OneFund is changing this.

With OneFund, everyday investors can select from and invest in top-tier PE & VC funds at low minimums. Get access to these elusive investment opportunities, and feel confident that your investment is in the hands of experienced professional investors.

This is very cool and I’m interested. But my question is what if one fund goes under after you have invested with them? Also, to make sure I understand the business model, are they just crowdfunding to make investments?

The point I was facetiously making is that any return premium that PE claims is a function of leverage + the lack of mark to market gives the illusion (but not reality) of lower risk. If anything, with the amount of capital chasing private assets, levered public equities would deliver a better risk adjusted return if held for private equity durations. In other words, there is now a premium - not a discount - for illiquid assets.

PE is mostly just leveraged small cap. Whether it is public or private doesn’t change the underlying business(selling widgets is selling widgets). The only people benefiting from private equity are the GPs. Great business to be in.
