Path to DC area?

Currently second year PE UMM associate, with decent (300-500k liquid savings). Dreamed life is to buy nice house in DC suburbs, which cost around 1m. Problem is lack of well paying finance jobs in the DC area. Am looking for something relatively chill that pays 150k+. Want to deploy excess time into family and side biz.

Can anyone advise the best type of roles to look for in DC area? Much thanks!!

Bro a nice house in dc suburbs is more like 2mil. Unless ur looking at like Olney, Rockville, Fairfax, or reston. Anything Bethesda, Chevy chase, McLean, Arlington, great falls, will be close to 2 mil and easily get to 3mil

Think you might need to reset expectations about how much your house will cost.

As far as finance jobs, there are a couple of investment banks with DC offices- Baird ADG comes to mind here as the main player. HL and RJ also have ib offices. There are some small boutiques such as Kipps and Clearsight. There are also a surprisingly large number of PE firms such as Carlyle, ACP, Capitol Meridian, and a number of other ADG players. Also a number of VC firms in the area as well. None of these will fit the bill of relatively chill, but they will help pay that mortgage on your nice great falls house.

For something more chill, I'd look to government contractor's corp dev / strat fin departments where you can work more of a 9-5. If thats not for you, there are a number of NGOs and government organizations that do either development finance or financing american ventures in specific industries that could be really interesting jobs if thats your thing.

You definitely have a range of options in and around DC as well as some ADG/government/NGO jobs pretty unique to the area.

Any role in the business analyst job family. If your ib or pe experience is applicable I could see you coming in as an SM or D. SM is 200-220, D is 250-280. If your experience isnt applicable im not sure where you would come in.
