PCA (Secondary Advisory) Thoughts / Exit Opps.

Monkeys,

What are your thoughts on PCA / Secondary Advisory groups at firms like (Evercore, Lazard, PJT)? Currently researching what a role in one of these groups would entail. I'm primarily concerned with exit opps. I'm not 100% sure what I'd be looking to exit to, but are the exits going to be only limited to buy-side secondary firms and investor relations? If you wanted to do traditional PE or HF, is it possible to lateral from PCA / Secondary Advisory to a traditional IB coverage group within the same bank, then go to HF / PE? If so, are laterals common? Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

I worked in PCA for very brief time (I had a couple years of other work experience). And I ended up moving to the investment team of an endowment (mainly primaries with some co-invest). I was recruiting for PE / HF FoFs, PE secondaries, investor relations, and traditional IB. I think direct PE would be tough. But PCA is definitely an easy switch to traditional IB, FoF, or IR. It’s all just about how well you can pitch your experience
