PE (SA) vs IBD (SA) vs GCM (SA)
Hello!
Am currently in a top GCM group (SA) but am interested in Blackstone PE roles (SA). I’m eager to learn but also keep as many doors open down the line.
I’m concerned about my lack of technical modeling knowledge & how that will play into a summer at Blackstone compared to peers coming from a SA banking stint. I haven’t prepped for PE interviews before & don’t have prior PE or modeling experience.
I can also return to GCM or internally lateral to IBD (ex. M&A) for the following summer and recruit FT for Blackstone or for the analyst class. In this case, would you take the extra summer of banking to be technically prepped & ready to jump straight to PE?
