He shouldn't have been charged.  The most he is guilty of is perhaps holding on a bit too long.  Had he been convicted, it would've been the lowest of the available charges against him and he would've gotten the lightest possible sentence.  A few months behind bars or just probation.  So for the prosecutor to move forward with this case is a joke

Great news for penny and subway riders. Makes you think though, why do they have the national guard chilling outside the turnstiles? They should have at least one of them riding major subway lines all day if they’re gonna be standing there anyway. It would make a real impact if degenerate vagrants could reasonably expect a soldier to come fuck up their day if they caused trouble.

Would be a great idea in theory but the amount of man power you would need to have a police officer on every train in NYC would make this extremely difficult.

Controversial

With all due respect to all. This is an investment banking forum. Why do we have people in the comments on a post about someone acquitted for choking a homeless person (rightfully/ wrongfully idk I wasn’t there), talking about ending gender quotas and BLM. Can you guys please hold a rally or something instead? WSO used to be a useful site before it became a bunch of angry white men venting…

This case was a big deal for public safety and transportation in NYC - finance professionals on this forum are disproportionately based here. Not that hard to understand

Cool. So why are People in these comments now saying how hopefully this is the end of gender quotas and Black Lives Matter… not sure why you’re saying dumb shit like it’s matter of fact. Please tell me what gender quotas have to do with manslaughter in a subway. You can pretend I’m making this stuff up or you can simply read the comments on this post

it's so that they're able to comment about this anonymously. that way, decent people can't avoid them. in addition to this, despite this being a typical off-topic topic, or potential controversial topic, which would mean their usernames are revealed, the mods have decided to facilitate not just what i've just described, but their hiding of their identities, and in doing so hiding, in a kind of sly way, support for potentially other things, including the outcome of this verdict.

I think everyone on either side that lives in NYC agrees: there was no way in hell he would have been charged as guilty in NYC. We all go on the subway and understand how unsafe it is, IMO it was overblown but I think in the context of NYC residents people have seen and heard enough to where at least one out of twelve in a jury would have given him the benefit of the doubt.

This isn't a DEI issue, dude was homeless and clearly mentally ill. This is just a case of a mentally ill person who never got any resources or help for his mental illness.

and i'm very grateful they attempted to make this a case. he called him a crack head after too so it feels motivated by some kind of intense apathy derived from some part jordan's identity, perhaps as homeless, black, idk.. i cynically think he did it after jordan said he wanted to go to prison for food. but while women die because they can't get abortions, and children are killed with us weapons, at least for a moment in time the "women and children" were safe and what happened was definitely not someone getting to live out their kind of sick belief that, while being fully sane, it's their right to do absolutely whatever they want to other human beigns.
