never seen them on any deals
Above poster might be a little too punitive but not wrong, definitely not the best O&G team. Still relatively new but not looked on too favorably by the NYC office (seniors are mixed bag in terms of quality).
Either way, definitely not in the same tier as Evercore or Moelis in Houston
I have seen Moelis on none of the deals this year. They were on a lot of restructuring deals last year but other than that nada.
They’ve closed 4 deals over $1bn YTD… no shortage of deal flow
Work at a top boutique on Houston. Haven’t seen them ever at bake offs. Obviously name carries weight but they’re not close to the top Houston shops.
Don’t know anyone at the office personally but am friends with folks at other boutiques in Houston that know more about the group.
Apparently the Houston group has been around for ~6 months and has around a dozen professionals. Heard they have a couple of analysts that are sharp and the VP and associate that they poached from Moelis were both well-regarded over there but have heard similar things regarding the senior team.
They seem to be whale hunting more than anything but closed a ~$1bn buyside earlier in the year.

They did a $900M divestiture with Equinor to Grayson Mill Energy.
