Playing Defense

Analysts, what are your tips / trade secrets on pushing back at work.

Thing have been getting pretty brutal at work and I keep getting staffed on more live deals. I can manage but I hate telling 4-5 teams I need more time to do their work always because I’m stuck on calls all day and generally always busy. I get shit done but have constant anxiety and always feel like I’m underwhelming people in speed and occasionally accuracy. At the end of the day, I know all the work has to get done and it has to get done right, but when you guys are getting slammed from multiple directions what do you do? I also feel like I spend way too much time trying to stay organized on top of the 100 little things that pop up in a day on two sell sides and the larger decks / turns I have to do too. Whenever one project slows, another one takes its place. How do you create downtime? I feel like I can’t even get up from 9:30am until 6pm most days just playing defense. Then have to eat dinner while getting organized everyday.

Furthermore, how do you tell your staffer that you are at capacity, cause ours is super hard to play defense with when asking for a additional resources or getting off a project because you are on too much.

Any feedback / stories would be appreciated.

Not staying in banking long-term, so no need for the hardo brigade telling me how it’ll ruin my rep / my bucket. I wouldn’t be upset moving down a rung for slightly better peace of mind for the next year.
