No pleats
Really doesn't matter. No pleats fit a bit tighter in the thighs/crotch. Other than that, it's just personal preference.
Here's what the guy at Macy's told me when I asked about this issue: For those who cannot honestly call themselves thin around the waistline, pleats are a good idea.
pleats are a little more dressy, and u have to see how it looks on you. i dont like the way pleats look on me so i try to avoid them, but others look better in them. like the guy at brooks brothers said, pleats are a more "traditional" style... which got me thinkin "old man" (not everyone would agree with this). of course you'd rather be traditional/classic in the office than modern/hip, so just try on pleats vs no pleats, see which you like better, and go from there.

Pleats definitely help you look thinner, but they look bad if you are already pretty thin.
