Possibility?

Hi everybody. I'm going to be a junior at a target school (HYP). I'm majoring in Econ and expecting to end the year with about a 3.3. I don't have any leadership positions on campus (but I belong to a couple of clubs) and no finance work experience. I really want to pursue a position as a Summer Analyst next summer. Do I have a shot or are my chances too low. I'm not talking about a BB, but maybe a MM or a boutique. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Target schools will get you pretty far but you still have to demonstrate leadership and interest in finance.

1.Your GPA is at the lower bound for an econ major. 2.No offense, lots of clubs on any campus circle-jerk and elect each other to "leadership" positions. Don't just make a laundry list of clubs. Only join a club if you're actually interested and are willing to reach President/VP levels.

If I were you I would double major or minor in math/finance, boost the GPA, join and excel in the investment/finance club.

Post up your resume for more help.

Ok thank you for the insight. As for my GPA, 3.3 was a lowball estimate. There is a very good chance it could be within the 3.4 range. I also should have mentioned that i studied abroad in London for a semester. Does this change anything? Also, I could join the prominent business club on campus and probably get a leadership position, but would it matter as much since I would only have been in it for a year? Thanks.
