POSSIBILITY FOR A FT OFFER

Hello everyone,

Background: I'm from a non-target state school, have a 3.3ish gpa, and am graduating in December 2018. I am currently doing a IB internship at a boutique firm for this Spring Semester (January-May). I have also accepted an offer for this coming summer at a small PE shop started by some Yale Alum.

My question for you guys is in regards to connections/networking. I have been told that if I do well and there is capacity, I will be offered a FT position. However, the other option was since he had connections, I could choose what i was interested in, and he would set up face-to-face meetings with those in my areas of interest.

What has been your experience in these positions? Do the offers to meet their connections actually happen or is it to just rope you in to work for them? Also, if you did go through this, do you think I could win a FT offer with my graduation date and various circumstances in mind?

Thanks in advance for all the help, it is very much appreciated.
