Potential intern group switch full time
Hey everyone need a bit of advice -
I am an intern at a BB/EB and have recently been questioning if I should try and switch groups full time through internal mobility.
I had a very strong performance review, but I worry the administrative head of my group and the other senior bankers that are notified when you request a switch will get frustrated if I try and switch for full time (the process is not anonymous).
Worst case I lose my offer which isn’t ideal.
Best case, I switch to a coverage I believe I would prefer
Most likely case is slightly negative - I go through the process and stay in my group full time (but with senior bankers knowing I tried to leave) - also not ideal.
Is it worth the risk to try, especially considering the current market conditions?
I would also have the opportunity to rotate during or after my analysts years, but obviously that would delay me a bit in getting where I want to go, and again it’s not a guaranteed move to where I want to be.
Would love to hear people’s takes on this, thanks!
