preparation
So, I am a liberal arts guy, starting in July at a BB with a supposedly top training program. I don't know much about finance other than the vault and wet feet guides.
A lot of people advise just chilling out senior year(which I am getting quite good at), not worry about anything, and pick it all up in training.
But seems like a lot of people in this forum are preparing a bit, especially non-finance people....so o current and former analysts, what should I do?
If you suggest prep, any accounting books/ modeling books you recommend? Any resources available online (ideally for free)?
Thanks guys.
What are you doing, IB?
I will be doing IB.
if you dont really use excel at all, try to at least familiarize yourself with it, learn some basic shortcuts or ways to manuver around excel, it will make your life considerably easier.
Try to pick up the Training the Street manual, it's got some good info.
where would you obtain that manual? Any particular website?
is a course that most bulges put their analysts through, you usually build an operating model with the help of the book that walks you through a model step by step. I don't think any websites just post it.
Yea, I got it from a UBS training seminar, you might wanna ask your friends in IB if they have an extra copy or something.
