Prospects for a Graduate at a Mid Cap IB in ER - Been offered a full time grad role
Hi all,
So I've been offered a full time grad role with a small/mid cap IB to start in Equity Research. At the same time, Morgan Stanley have offered me a rotational summer internship in Sales Trading and Research.
I just wondered what you guys think I should do? On the one hand I have a job secured, but on the other hand, Morgan Stanley is such a great name on the CV.
I just wanted to know what the route might be for me if I start at the mid cap, in terms of salary progression and exit opportunities? Obviously I know it depends on how good I am at the job, but assuming things go well, what can I expect from my career?
Would appreciate your help.
Thanks

R u a fool? RUN TO MORGAN STANLEY, what are you even thinking about. Lawl you like equity research man? RUN to S&T, RUN!!!!!!!!
So you're saying, pass up a full time graduate opportunity (allbeit at a midcap), for an internship and a 20% chance at getting converted to full time?
Anyway, what I really wanted to know are the future prospects for an Equity Research grad. I prefer ER to S&T I think so advice welcome! x
how did you get the summer offer if you already had a full time offer lined up? can you delay your FT offer til the end of your summer internship?
Had AC a few weeks ago, got the ER offer, then MS called up with the internship offer, out of the blue. It's not possible to defer the ER offer, they want someone to in summer.
Anyway, what I really wanted to know are the future prospects for an Equity Research grad?
Future prospects are probably MBA and continuing up the ER ladder. Some kids might be able to make it into a few hedge funds but I'm not sure their work there.
Many people I know in ER tend to stay there.
