Quantatitive Research/Analyst
I haven't heard much about it, just that you need at least a Ph.D. in Statistics or some other math-related thing...what exactly is it, and how much do you make in it? My friend told me after 6-7 years, his dad earns close to 600K. Is that really true? If so , are the qualifications needed is that you be get a doctorate?
How much you make depends on the position: a quant trader earns more than a quant in risk management. A quant on a desk (i.e. the person who builds pricers) earns more than a quant developer (i.e. merely coding those pricers). Good things: amazing exit opportunities, can start as an associate, HF starve for quantish people Bad things: sometimes it gets boring anyway, you need either a PhD or an MFE and really know your stuff well
