Question for you finance monkeys - Getting commodity info from financial statements?
hey all, is there a way to get a feel for a company's volume of natural gas consumed through their financial statements? taking Nucor for example, they're interesting because they had the EnCana agreement which they've just called off last week. As a steel company, they have a huge natural gas demand, but they also were investing in new wells in the Piceance and even after the termination of those agreements will continue to own the production from about 300 Piceance wells.
I'm curious about their natural gas demand from their steel-making activities. Is there somewhere in their reports that price paid for natural gas might be a line item? Are we able to look at their derivatives activity and backwards into a physical gas demand number?
Would appreciate any ideas you all have, thanks!
