Quitting after just started

DELICATE SITUATION ALERT

I recently lateraled to another sell-side advisor firm; however right after I started, I received an offer from a very ideal buy-side firm which I’ve been in touch for a long time. I did not see this coming at all as I thought I was not likely to receive an offer from them in the first place + it took long for them to issue me an offer. Otherwise I would decline my current firm in the first place.

Now that I will most likely take the buy-side offer, and that the upcoming exit convo with my current employer will likely be tough (I’ve only been working here for less than a month + they invested a lot of resources to get me in), I wanted to gather your opinions on how to best control the damage here.

Should I disclose where I’m off to next? Should I worry my current employer will go after me? Should I offer notice and for how long? Any inputs will be greatly appreciated!
