Quitting Without an Offer

Hey monkeys

I was recently promoted to Associate at a large bank in NYC. I am starting to think where I want to be long term, and have come to the conclusion I would be much happier doing boutique IB in the midwest (used to live there, where most of my friends are).

Would it be a bad idea to quit after I get my bonus and move back to said city without a job lined up? Reason I ask is timing will be right when my lease ends, and I feel it will be incredibly difficult to interview in another city while working 70+ hours a week. Additionally, money would not be a problem since I will have a significant amount in savings.

Thoughts?
