I don't get it. How is a supposed relationship between an executive and an employee considered grounds for firing? Same thing happened with Bernard Looney, former boss of BP. Is it simply because the executive in question has the influence to elevate the employee's career internally? Like, why is it such a big deal that it commands the front pages of Bloomberg/others? Or is it just hot gossip?

answer: "undisclosed close personal relationship with another employee which led to preferential treatment of the employee including promotion and compensation increases"

Lots of factors come in to play, I guess one being RSUs in the form of unvested shares, RBC board probably views these situations as a cost cutting measure ; 1) fire the female cfo, 2) Save money, live better (buy Walmart shares using the newly secured RSUs), and 3) hire an upcoming male CFO

Tbh it’s quite unsurprising a strong balance sheet bank, such as RBC came to this solution.
