Reading between the lines

Hey guys,
I have a question about something i noticed in reading the press. Sometimes, when a company (lets call it Company A) is acquiring company B, reporters say that Company A ""agreed"" to acquire Company B. Latest example is Bray's article "Boeing Agrees to Acquire British Aviation Software Firm" in Dealbook.
Since I am not an English-native speaker, the way it sounds to me is that the wording "agree" is a polite version for "the BoD of the Co B was begging Company A to acquire it.", sort of that the move was initiated by Company B rather than A.

Can someone throw a light if this wording has some meaning ?

Any other examples of such ambiguous wording that actually makes total sense?

Thanks
