So I'm taking Intro to Financial Accounting through Berkeley this summer, and it is worth 3 semesters of credit from Berkeley. I will have a transcript and everything once the class is over, but the problem is Northwestern does not apply this to my GPA. I know people taking organic chemistry at Harvard this summer (because the class is easier at Harvard than Northwestern) and their credit from Harvard wont count towards their GPA either. But, when they apply to med school, they are allowed to recalculate their GPA with the Harvard credit.
So when I'm applying to firms, can I recalculate my GPA with the Berkeley credit, since I will have the transcript to show when it comes time to submit it?

I've never heard of a situation where you can recalculate your own gpa or where transfer classes count towards your gpa....

but im taking a class worth three semesters at berkeley. if northwestern wont give me credit thats one thing, but surely firms can acknowledge (potentially) three extra As on my transcript...
I'd say your best shot is adding a note to your transcript/resume explaining your class situation at Berkeley.
You can't just make up your own GPA so stop posting b/s on this board and go study or else you're not going to get any As at Berkeley either.

Seriously, there's too many posts here of college kids who want to become investment banking analysts and work 80h/week yet they can't even put in a fraction of the hours in school to get good marks.
They don't seem to want to learn anything either, all they want is to get As so they come up with schemes instead of studying.

its not making up my own gpa, its factoring in credit that i worked hard to achieve from a target school into my cumulative gpa. med schools recalculate gpas for students who took pre-med classes at other schools, so i was wondering if i could do the same with this class.

thats legit, i'd rather party than study for the same end result. its all about efficiency
but its not even like that. im taking this class thru berkeley, its not exactly a blow off class, and im putting in the time to study and do my best in it... and i would just like to see that reflected in my gpa. its not about slacking off or trying to get a good gpa without studying, its just about getting credit for my work. its not a "scheme" to get As, its taking extra classes to make up for one bad quarter.
anyway, i took this class knowing that it wouldnt be counted towards my gpa, im taking it specifically becasue i-banks like people with financial accounting experience and northwestern doesnt offer many classes in accounting. i figured this would help in interviews and would also show initiative. but then again, absolutely none of that matters, leadership experience, work experience, dedication, initiative, preparing 2 years early for interviews...none of that matters when u go to a semi-target with a 3.3 gpa :-(

About recalculating your GPA, its not worth it if that grade is not being transferred into your offical transcript. You may end up with a rescinded offer.
Also, target or not, Northwestern is a great school, and I would bet they have a ton of alumni all over NYC, who could easily help you. Nothings impossible, but you will just have to work harder.
Also, like the other guy said, spend more time studying next year if you really want it. And if you're really ambitious, Adderall has been known to get people pretty good grades (shit is amazing).
ya that did come off as really whiny, my bad. one will tend to feel a little hopeless when reading these forums though... the competition is insane.
i tried adderall a couple times it never did much for me. caffeine works better
i will be hitting up the alumni for sure, as well as hitting the books... hopefully not as hard as those damn pre-med kids

30 mg XRs are even better
you can put it on if it goes towards you diploma if it doesn't you should list it seperatly. Plus it will look good that you took it at a target school
