Dallas is pretty nice place to live. Uptown is where all the young professionals and 30k millionaires live. Obviously Dallas is a lot cheaper in terms of cost of living. 1k for rent will get you a really really nice place.

Well, it's in TX, so no state taxes...I'd say you could certainly do worse in terms of CoL.

Input on what? Cost of living in Dallas is a fraction of the cost to live in NYC. On top of that you're not paying any state taxes. All of your questions have been answered.

Dallas is an awesome place to live, I grew up there. Something most people don't realize is the size of the metroplex. Basically 10-15 miles outside of city limits in every direction is nothing but cities; Richardson, Plano, Southlake, Fort Worth, etc. This adds up to a lot of people living in the area, much more than actually live in city limits, but still go out to all the bars and the night life.
Obviously much cheaper than NYC, and indeed there are no state taxes. Property taxes are higher as a result, so you can expect your rent to be a bit more expensive than other metropolitan areas (although still cheaper than NYC).
There are a lot of really wealthy people there, in part from the oil money in Texas. Night life is great in Uptown, lots of cool bars to go to. Members of the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks are frequently seen out. The crowd kinda has the southern preppy fraternity style to it; SMU, TCU, Baylor, and UT Dallas are all pretty close to the area. SMU and UTD are both in Dallas, while Baylor and TCU are within a couple hours away.
