Recruiting for bulge-bracket IB without prior finance experience

Hey guys,

I'm a sophomore at Wharton with a 3.9 GPA. I worked at a tech startup last summer but don't have a job for summer 2020 after getting auto-rejected from pretty much everything I applied to. I was wondering how feasible it is to land a role at a bulge-bracket investment bank for summer 2021 (I heard recruiting starts this spring) without any prior internship experience in finance.

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!

Sorry to break it to you, but recruiting for next summer most definitely does not start the spring right before. It starts pretty much spring the year before. Majority of recruiting for Summer 2020 IB in a BB has ended already. You'll be recruiting for Summer 2021 this Spring.

You sound like a troll. But anywhere, you should be fine junior year for 2021 recruiting. I wouldn't stress too much about what you're doing over summer. Just do something that excities you. I worked at tech startup the summer after my freshman year, non profit last summer and got two top tier BB offers for next summer. So, you don't need finance experience to land an IB role. Of course, I'm only saying this considering the fact that you go to Wharton.
