Reneging - Final stages of interviewing with a firm?

I have an offer which expires Monday. Am in the final stages of interviewing with a firm I really would like to join, but it does not look like their process will be done by my offer deadline.

I have already asked for an extension from my current offer which was denied and have notified the firm I am currently interviewing with that I have this deadline.

My question is what are the consequences if I accept my offer and then reneg if I get the other offer that I really want.

Got both through OCR if thats relevant.

Thanks

Has the firm you're interviewing with tried to expedite the process? If they have not, then maybe they don't really see you as their #1 candidate. Just a thought.

If you got it through OCR and you renege, it will reflect poorly on you and your school, and you may get spoken to by career services. I don't know how the industry or other firms would react to it though.

But honestly, if I had to, I would take the current offer and renege later if need be. It would suck to not have any offers at the end of everything. Talk it over with your career services counselor.

Do what you feel is best for you. I would not worry about losing OCR because they will just ask you to write an apology letter and give you OCR privileges back
