Retook a Class

I received a failing grade in a course I took the first semester of freshman year because I was being an idiot and irresponsible— retook it again the next semester and got an A. The school let me use the A for the GPA calculation, so that number is high, but the original bad grade is still on the transcript. Will this affect me for bulge bracket internship offers and full time beyond that?

Common knowledge of the 30/70 rule on Wall Street. You always weight the class 30% highest grade and 70% lowest grade.

I’d email HR and let them know your 30/70 GPA before you get blackballed.

MHO, this can go one of two ways. A. Denied at the door -- it's a failing grade, my man. B. You can tell the story, and sell it like a motherfucker that you learned a lot from the experience and the new grade is a testament to your work ethic.

Probably 9/10 interviews will be the former, but maybe someone will let you get the opportunity to explain.
