Rising junior wanting to do IB this late?

Hi all! I’m new to this forum and wanted to seek some advice for my current situation I’m a finance and econ double major with a 3.7 GPA at a non target in NJ and battled severe depression throughout this past year. It’s no excuse but I had almost 0 motivation do anything and was a bit lost in life.

However, these past 2 months after finally getting help I needed and making a change, I decided I want to pursue IB. I know I’m really late to the game but to make up for it, I have started studying the guides and have even purchased WSP’s premium package to start learning how to model. I am also interviewing at a search fund for a summer internship this summer next week and should get the job and plan to Network with boutique IBs for a fall analyst gig.

If I begin to network with people at banks who have not yet opened their 2022 SA applications, can I still get an interview?

Yeah, you should start networking literally tomorrow. Find as many people as you can. A lot of banks still hold recruiting in July, August, September, and early October. Most bank's email format is [email protected]. Best of luck in the process.

Check around to see what banks are still recruiting. Send out literally hundreds of emails, and have a very polished resume. With the background you're describing, it might be tough, but don't give up. Don't be a prestige whore either; reach out to MM / Regional firms as well, where you might have a better shot at getting a foot in the door.
