Rothschild & Co (LDN)
Incoming at Rothschild for FT but was curious what people on here thought of the firm in London. There's been a few threads already but the statements are way too broad and some are contradictory. What's the general perception of the bank in the City and what do exits (for those that want to exit) look like? Something that hasn't been discussed as extensively is their Rx div since mostly its LAZ/PJT/HL that gets discussed.
I know their HC and CRL teams are generally seen as top tier and the firm does some megadeals/landmark transactions but is ultimately a volume shop. For a junior, is doing any MM deals really a bad thing? Unsure how it affects MF recruiting but I'd have thought having extensive deal experience when you're recruiting as opposed to BB M&A would be good, especially if you can have some interfacing with the larger cap deals at some point.
To avoid this being a rehashed topic, I would strongly prefer if only people currently working in the industry commented but ofc I can't regulate this.
Hey Analyst 1 in IB - Gen, I think you deserve a response...heck, everyone does. We're listening, sorry about the delay ...my best guess at places on WSO that could help:

You're welcome.

Good shop. High volume MM private M&A franchise and large cap public M&A (E.g. Morrisons / CD&R).
Consumer and HC the busiest teams but sweaty a.f. No weak teams that I know of but they definitely aren’t known for Rx here (maybe different in the US)
I've heard they're pretty strong in Rx? Not competing with the very top EBs but deffo respected in the space
Fairly strong but not incredible in rx generally. Very strong along with lazard in sovereign situations.
Restructuring team has worked on a few situations but not really landmark deals / playing the lead role. Dont know them that well but from speaking to some of the people from Roth RX they seem to be quite snotty / stuck up and told me they are "indisputably the best restructuring team" in London lol .... seems like their performance is deteriorating as they are still showing old EMEA league tables in their pitches ...
Strong and active P&U team, at least in the Nordics.
In HC, they probably have the best exit opps in London... They are going everywhere from large cap to mid market.
not true. JPM probably does. I barely see any MF PE straight out of RTH even for HC their remains really small.
Jpm does indeed but rth place very well As shocking as it can be, not everyone is on LinkedIn and I can think of ppl at Cvc, advent and at least partners just of the top of my head ;)
Why the fuck would you be an intern and try to disagree with a VP lol
personally know two guys who went from Roth to Advent, one was from HC
Culture is a bit stuffy from what I heard from people there.
Energy, Power and Uts are top 3 in London with great culture but the hours are some of the worst on the street
HC and Consumer are the best followed by Energy & Power and Industrials. Consumer is insanely sweaty. Friend of mine is an analyst there and he’s going bald so take that as you will.
