Just curious, how long is Rothschild giving you to decide? (I'm assuming you're asking bc you received offers from both lol)

Have friends at Rothschild NY and some college buddies at PWP LA. Based on what I know, I'd take PWP LA in a heartbeat unless you're really attached to NY. PWP LA's a strong office with a rigorous and diverse junior experience (have very strong large-cap bankers and mid-market focused bankers so you get the full experience from strategic advisory-esque work to process-oriented deals). Seniors are nice people focused on mentorship and developing talent, and are also very rigorous (I've heard that every senior is the type who goes into the PPT and Excel backups to get their hands dirty). It's a hard-working office but seniors are also respectful of juniors' time. Heard that the office is super open to PE recruiting as well (seniors will go to bat for you and reach out to their contacts at PE firms), and exits are solid.

For the most part, Rothschild NY has pretty good culture for NY standards. Deal flow is still mainly MM focused (most mid-cap deals or large-cap deals are international deals where the NY team is cross-staffed with other offices). Exits seem solid - mainly MM oriented, and I've heard that buyside recruiting culture varies by group (some are open, some are very hush-hush).

Friend is a mid-senior person there and is trying to leave. Told me that important senior bankers and group heads have left and a significant # of VPs and up have been laid off. There are too many first year analysts vs. deal flow so none of them have gotten meaningful experience and thus suck (not enough reps). He is not the only one looking to leave… the writing is on the wall
