RX exit opps timeline

Some other posters asked a similar question a few days ago but got no responses. What is the timeline for full time exit opportunities? Going to work FT this summer at a mid tier RX IB shop in NYC I’m from a top target undergrad school and have good internship experience but fucked up my chances at a top bank because I completely missed the timeline. Scared to miss the timeline again.

When do exit opportunities begin recruiting ? How early should I be applying for distressed PE or hedge funds? Do I link up with head hunters or recruiters ? Do I just apply cold turkey on their websites? Should I try to stay the 2 years in IB or leave for a better exit after year 1?

Anyone who’s gone through remotely similar experience would help tremendously by giving insight. Thank you!

Stay 2 to 3 years. You should connect with headhunters soon. Just register through their portal. Know what you want (PE or HF). Probably go off cycle and take time to prep. Headhunters will let you know about opportunities throughout your analyst years just make sure you are very prepared for those calls because if you mess them up they will not show you opportunities. (So really take time to prep)
