Next year I will be pursuing an undergrad degree from Brown. My intended concentration(s) will likely be in Economics with a possible second in International Relations, Philosophy, History, Religion, or something similar. I hope (moreover will) maintain a 3.8+ and will take a class in economics and calculus my first semester.
I am a Native American from Oklahoma so I am looking into the minority programs-
This summer, I am working for a local energy firms risk management department, a job requiring a lot of math, most of which is statistics.
I also had an excellent resume in high school academically and with particularly with extra curricular activities.
Will I have any chance at all for any of the programs? I will definitely look hard and contact people in order to find an internship and will take any legitimate opportunity in IB or even PE. I will send as many emails or make as many phone calls as necessary to get an internship next summer but am just wondering if anybody had any advice before the process began.

first of all, focus is good, but don't be too aggressive right out of the gates -no one likes the super intense freshman who comes to info sessions with his own business cards.
as for these freshman programs, the fact that you're going to be a native american at brown makes you a good candidate. honestly, all you need to do is go to info sessions and build relationships with the diversity recruiters from various banks -they're the ones who select people for these types of underclassman programs. if they remember you, and they LIKE you, and you have a decent resume, you're set.

Any recommendations on trying to get employed in either SF or LA coming from Brown? Or will I be restricted to New York or Boston?
Also, I have a strong interest in real estate so I would love to be a part of a real estate finance group. Anything I can do to try and make this more realistic?
I just saw that UBS also had a one day Freshman program. Do you get into these programs from networking with employees or simply a good application?
I'd much rather prefer to be on the west coast upon graduation as I am very interested in the media and technology sectors of banking and I see that UBS has analyst programs in LA and SF. Any more recommendations for this? Or will CA be too hard?

I actually found out this week that I may have the chance to intern FT this summer at UBS, but in Wealth Management. How much would this help? Especially if I wanted to pursue a career at UBS?
