SEO Offers - Second round

I had my second round for SEO ( Sponsors for Educational Opportunities) in December and I was curious if anyone has heard back. I received an email saying that my application was under consideration, did anyone else receive this?

Yes, I know a few people who have already been accepted. This week is the first virtual training session.

Junior target here. I also had a follow-up in mid December and received the email about being under consideration. No decision yet...

I'm a senior, but there are 2 juniors at my non-target school that received offers. (IBD and S&T)

I am utterly surprised at the caliber of students SEO recruits. I know both of them and IMHO, they both are of very low caliber - sub 3.0 GPA, no extracurriculars. The same was the case with the students from the year before.

Either you are very mistaken, or your friends somehow forged their transcripts. It's extremely rare that someone gets into the SEO IB and S&T programs with a sub 3.5 GPA - especially from a non-target. Very curious about to whom you are referring to regarding last year's class as well.

@DiggsRTC

I'm not one to put anyone out there, so I won't tell you who they are; however, if you were part of the class last summer, I am pretty sure you can identify who the 2 non-targets were. I know them very well since we are a very 'tight-knit group,' (only a handful of students who know what ibanking is) and I know there's no way they could have forged their transcripts.

I will also say that their GPA's might be an exception to the norm. I know a couple other SEO students from 3 years ago - they all had >3.5 GPA's; however, not the same caliber as you would find with kids who got in the 'regular' way (Networking, tons of EC's and the usual nonsense).

I think you're putting too much stock in people who got in the "regular way." I was at firm-specific training when a guy - who got in the regular way - asked me to help him understand the difference between sales and revenues. Obviously, no matter how selectively you recruit, some people will slip through the cracks. This is also not to mention the various SEO interns who already had SA offers and joined SEO for the training and networking opportunities. Regardless, SEO is a very strong program, and by the time their interns hit the desk, most of them are better prepared than more than half of their peers. Your generalization here is unwarranted.

SEO...A few of friends got into the program (I went through the process myself, but did not get in which, in hindsight, worked out well). Good program to get into, but interview process leaves much to be desired.
