I am going to be starting as an IBD analyst at BAML this summer...Does anyone know if the bank makes its incoming analyst class take the Series 7/63?
I gather that some BBs require their incoming IBD analysts take the tests, while others do not
I would like to know so I can get the prep books now and just glance over them in my free time for the next couple of months.

Historically, only Global Markets analysts had to take Series tests. Whether, you have to take them or not, the books will be provided to you with ample time of organized studying with instructors before the test.
You only need to take the Series 7 of you are Sales and Trading. If your in IBD you do not need to take the test.
Gekko, isn't there a new exam for IBD that all incoming analysts have to take now?
BAML will probably make you guys take the 79.
