You want to live in the Marina or Cow Hollow than you will have solid access to the bars on Fillmore, Chestnut, Union, and Polk.
Palm House, Westwood, Blue Light, Balboa Cafe, Brixton, White Rabbit, Del Mar, Reed and Greenough, Jaxson, Cultivar, California Wine Merchant, Green's, Harper & Rye, Macondray, Mezcalito. This should be more than enough to get you started.

Geez. I’ve been living in SF for 15 years. Been out of the loop of these places. I’m down for some happy hour.
How about clubs?
Not a great club town, but there are a few House/Rave spots like Halcyon in the SOMA/Hayes Valley area.
Yeah I am surprised how bad the club scene is here. There are so many young professionals in the bay yet the nightlife scene is very weak. How odd.
In retrospect which city do u prefer ?
This is more of a hangout space but Balboa Cafe is great (especially if you like espresso martinis). Palm House is another good one.
Palm House Punch bowls were definitely responsible for some of my messiest nights in SF as well as probably the primary vector of COVID's spread in the bay lol

In all seriousness, I used to frequent Audio (next door to Halcyon). Small club but great house sets and always packed. You can usually bribe the bouncer to let you in if it's sold out, but takes a little work.
