SF FT Housing 2019
Looking for housing by FiDi (close to work) in SF. Wondering when/how/where is best to look and what price point I should generally expect. I know to stay away from Tenderloin.

Career Resources
Born and raised in SF, will also be living there for FT starting in 2019. Your best bet will be... - Lower Nob Hill - Nob Hill - SOMA - North Beach - Lower Pac heights
Alternatively, anywhere near a Bart station is solid, as your commute will be relatively short in the morning -- aka, Civic Center (SOMA/TL, though you should stay away from the TL), Montgomery (FiDi), Embarcadero (there's a new development near davis st. that's not too expensive for a 1br), 24th and mission, 16th and mission, glen park, and balboa park. Not sure about your bank, but the one I'm starting at comps ubers if you're staying late.
In general for a 1br expect to pay at the low end $2900 and on the high end $3700. There's going to be a lot of variability in terms of amenities, size, etc. Personally, I'm focusing on SOMA and lower nob hill.
When should one start looking for places? My bank offered to put me up in a hotel for my first week of work so that I can find a place when I’m down there, is that too late? I’ve just heard anecdotally that places fly off Craig’s List at an alarmingly fast rate.
Also, how sketchy is it to sign a lease for a place having not seen it beforehand?
Are you looking at SF? I'm looking now to get a feel for different buildings, etc. However I don't plan on seriously engaging with landlords/leasing offices until April.
In regards to Craiglist, yes -- good places in desirable locations will go quickly.
Absolutely do not do that. Like I cannot emphasize how bad of an idea it is to sign without at least seeing the place first.
Thanks for replying.
When would you suggest starting to look? And what websites would you suggest looking at to find a place?
