Skills and Qualifications: Minimum 4 years IB experience

Hi all

I'm looking up job descriptions for where I want to be in 5 years. I found what i think is a good general template for higher level credit analyst roles. One of the jobs suggests 4 years of buy /sell side research and or year of IB experience.

Is this the kind of thing that you can network your way into with an MBA? (Commerical lending could be spun as sell side but the analysis might not be as thorough as the kind needed. I have no idea.)

Below is the job description in question.

Slowly but surely I'm working on developing those credit memo/underwriting skills. The more I learn and know what I'm talking about the clearer and concise I become. I don't know anything about high yield debt though. I've read the old book on Distressed Debt Analysis, read Fabozzi's FI textbook 4 years ago (need to re-read) and have been reading monthly articles here: https://www.tcw.com/en/Insights. I just use google to make sense of the parts that are new to me.

Bloomberg is quite a beast so learning to use the appropriate functions will probably require access through a school terminal or library.
