I smoke almost every day but try not to get too high. Comments while really high is probably the worst thing you can imagine. Youll just take a lot longer turning them and people will likely notice how slow you are. If you don't plan on getting comments or having to work that night - probably fine, but who knows in banking you're never really "safe" from work. That being said I've been fine doing work just a lil high, but everyone's different.

I get more high when I smoke real weed but it's easier and more convenient to smoke cartridges. It's always a big deal to pack a bowl or clean the bong beforehand and grind up the weed. Carts are just turn it on and go, so I use them most

Lmao sometimes I'm convinced I'm the only non-smoking, non-harsh drinking dude on this site or on the street. And I'm talking outside of that group of people that do it for religious or extreme moral reasons (prohibition rather than general dislike for it).

I smoked an ounce of top shelf a week up until a month ago. 100% dependent on it, but I realized through therapy that I was using it to solve my problems. Feel stressed, smoke weed. Feel depressed, smoked weed. Its not necessarily the weed, because from an addiction standpoints its not crack, but there were other issues in my life that caused me to abuse it, leading to work and school quality to suffer.

If you’re using it like a joint after work to relax, there’s nothing wrong with it as it’s the same as a beer after work. If you’re so dependent you need it to make food taste good or to make work not a bore, then you’re going to start having a problem.

Try to have a healthy relationship with it and take t-breaks often, saves you money and gives you more control over it.

haha energy m&a no doubt you need some relief now. can I suggest a t-great after this blows over? I recommend hitting the edibles for a bit but not smoking and then going a couple days without it.

I smoke everyday and have since I was halfway into my 2nd year (about a year ago). Still smoked regularly before then but wasn't getting close to daily. Definitely can tell there's a bit of a dependency, my rule of thumb is just to only do it after done working or when the only work left in the night is pretty mindless and doesn't require interaction with anyone else at work. I'm pretty functional while high though so if work comes around I'm not particularly stressed unless its some analysis I need to really focus for (which never really gets requested at night, usually just some dumb shit). I noticed after awhile that it had definitely contributed to reduced levels of activity, so one thing I focus on now is only doing it after work and after getting some kind of workout in.

Also seeing the other comments above about brain fog the next day, I only really get that if I'm smokin a dab pen or taking edibles, straight flower never really affects me the next day, so thats pretty much all I do.

what?

A bit of a dependency, complete dependency, call it whatever you want. Not like I'm ashamed of it. I don't need to smoke in order to make food taste good  nor do I need it to be able to sleep, I do it because I enjoy it (in moderation) and if I have nothing going on late at night it helps me decompress a little. If I was drinking a beer every night I came home from work I don't think people would say I'm completely dependent on that beer either. There are people out there who smoke multiple grams a day from the moment they wake up and throughout the day/night - I don't think you can put me in the same category as that when I'm smokin a bowl or a joint at the most.

Only reason I think there's any dependency is because I definitely have conceptualized it as a "reward" at the end of the day which is probably not the healthiest thinking but so far has not been damaging to my career nor other aspects of my life.

I used to smoke regularly (2-3x per week) but I have since moved to a jurisdiction where it is illegal. I have been able to quit immediately with no withdrawal symptoms.

Everything in moderation, I think the only risk is that you get called / hit up later at night for a fire drill and you’re crippled on the couch.

If you can function high, and deal with the anxiety of being high late at night thinking about if you could get called, then go for it - personally, the later is what stops me from doing it more often during the week.

Yes OP, have been smoking nearly everyday since I was 14 (over 20 years ago). I never smoke during the workday unless I'm really fucking hungover and just need to take the edge off. It's doable to smoke frequently and still maintain fitness, job, and good sleep, but here's a dirty little secret - it's not great for your sleep long term, so I'd recommend you not going to bed high.

I'd heard this from Andrew Huberman and whatever other broscientist comes on Joe Rogan that doesn't even lift and I thought "yeah whatever that's bullshit" but then I spoke to someone whose opinion I actually trust and they said marijuana impairs your ability to dream and have deep REM sleep, so I ran an experiment, no more weed after 9pm so I'll be mostly sober by 10 or 11p.

I have quite literally never had crazier dreams, I don't even think 5 tabs of LSD could get me where I was that first night. I did not believe this in the past, I believe it now, so I try my best to just smoke after work, before workouts, after workouts, before dinner, but then chill out and sober up in time to go to sleep. Time will tell if this yields any long term benefits, but your brain needs to dream, so moderation my friend.

But still, stay irie.

Used to burn 24/7 during WFH. Ultimately quit because I noticed it had absolutely no upside outside of instant gratification. It wastes money, slows me down, makes me less sociable, kills motivation to work/work out/try to get laid, etc.

It's literally a feel-good surrogate that gets your dopamine flowing without having to do anything fulfilling. Which comes at the cost of making you less likely to engage in activities that are actually fulfilling because why would you if you can just spark a blunt?
