Sophomore Internship: Big Airline vs. Big 4
I'm a Sophomore finance major at a state school that sends a handful of kids every year to IBD. My goal is to land an SA gig next summer and hopefully that leads to an analyst role post-graduation. I'm fortunate enough to have been offered 2 different internships for this summer. One is in the accounting department at a major airline (Delta / American). The other is with Big 4 in their underclassmen-focused program (EY Emerging Leaders / Deloitte Discovery). I think both of these positions are great opportunities, especially for a non-target student such as myself. I've considered going into Big 4 TAS if IBD doesn't work out, but the lifestyle and benefits that go with working at an airline are tough to beat. But, like I said, IBD is still my #1.
Networking aside, which one of these roles would give me the best shot at securing an interview for an SA role with a BB next summer?
Thanks.
I'd appreciate any advice
If you're talking about the Discovery program I think that's generally seen as a solid soph year internship, especially if your desired fallback is Big 4 TAS. Otherwise its definitely not too late to try and get a boutique IB internship either.
