Special Situations Group/Distressed Debt → RX IB FT
Hey everyone, I’ve been given the opportunity to rotate in the Special Situations Group (SSG) at a BB under S&T. I am also interested in RX and am hoping to recruit for full-time positions at EBs like PJT, Evercore, Lazard, etc. for next year. I realize that these boutiques value specific IB experience, especially when it comes to restructuring, and I’m coming from a slightly non-traditional background in S&T. I’m wondering if anyone here has insights on how feasible it is to transition into RX at these types of firms from my background in SSG, and what the best approach would be to make myself a competitive candidate during full-time recruiting.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, transitioning from a Special Situations Group (SSG) under Sales & Trading (S&T) to a full-time role in Restructuring (RX) at elite boutiques (EBs) like PJT, Evercore, and Lazard is feasible but requires strategic planning.
