S&T —> IB, is it possible?
Is it possible for someone at a bb who has a seat on the trading floor to make an internal pivot into the IBD? Say you did 2-3 years on the floor then pivoted. Anyone ever hear of this?

Yes, but you’ll have to start likely as a senior analyst if you’re an associate, and it’s extremely difficult so unless you make effort to transfer internally it’s very likely not happening externally + all banks are downsizing at the moment. It’s definitely not unheard of however.
I missed all of the IB internships b/c I realized too late what I wanted to do but I have a great opportunity with s&t at a bb so figured I’d see if there was a way.
Out of curiosity, would it be easier to lateral from S&T to IB if you have some prior experience? I've done IB SA at an EB, and S&T SA at a BB (and am going the S&T route for grad). I don't really see myself wanting to lateral in the near future, but would be interested to know if it's a possibility if I change my mind down the track.
Man I'm drunk as hell but what I'm about to say remains valid: What team of S&T are you at now? TBH lots of desk is better / safer than that of IBD at the moment... For the sake of job security unless you 're pushed out just stick to the current desk man
