Stepping Stones, Advice

Hello WSO, here is my situation.

Recently graduated, I am starting work for a small shop, doing some operations stuff, as well as some equity capital markets here and there, licensed with a 7, 63, and 57. I am happy with the firm, but I don't know if it will have what I need for the future.

I am a very hungry individual, work ethic is strong, and natural extrovert with great soft skills, and a huge passion for finance. I am still a little jaded on where exactly I want to go, so I guess it's good I'm starting at a small shop and seeing different aspects of the business to be able to pick a better path. I like the dealmaking process, wealth management, and find enjoyment in the business model of PE most of all, but it seems like it is quite challenging to break in.

I would not consider myself a true banker just yet, but I would like to in the near future. I am based in NYC and figured that networking here would be probably better than most of the country. Just in a weird spot now.

I ask the gracious professionals and experienced WSO community for any and all advice. Courses, skills, shops to network with, events, you name it, I would love to hear it. I really want to spread my wings and break into a bigger bank to see larger deals be made and only go up from there.

I am very responsive and appreciate this forum greatly. Anything and everything from anyone are welcomed, and I thank you in advance.
