Study Abroad at LSE? (Semi-Target Student)
Hey everyone, I would like to know your thoughts on if I should study abroad at LSE my junior year, and how much that will help in IB recruitment. Currently at a semi-target (UCLA/Emory) and going to be a sophomore this fall.
LSE of course places extremely well in Europe, but how advantageous is it to study abroad there? Especially because it will be after I (hopefully) secure my SA position. Will LSE on my resume give me a meaningful boost? Will it help for building an alumni network? Any off-cycle/lateral recruitment benefits? Post-grad benefits?
The LSE program is one year (Sep-June), and I think I would enjoy living in London for a change. One concern is leaving my friends back home for such an extended period of time, and how that will impact my relationships. If there is really no career benefit and it is simply for the study abroad experience, I don't think it will be worth it. However, a senior at my school mentioned it is a "very good" program.
The decision will be based on a mix of career optimization and personal life. I would like to hear your guys opinion and any pros/cons. Especially if you studied there (abroad or not), and have any helpful insights (course rigor, internship opportunities, general advice, etc.).
