Suggest meeting in person for 1st round Interview?
I have a phone interview with an IB that is only a few blocks away from me. Would it be cool if I suggested to my interviewer to meet in person instead (just casually to grab coffee or something). My feeling is that the phone interviews are just so impersonal and every bank emphasizes "fit" more than anything else so wouldn't it be better to meet in person if circumstances were amenable? Plus I feel like Im much better at interviewing/more convincing in person than over the phone.
For a big IB with HR bureaucracy, I'd just take the phone screen as it's supposed to be a 15-30 (at most) deal. Unless you reached out to your interviewer personally, in which case I would feel more natural asking to meet up, For a smaller place, it could work well.
