Summer Group Placement

Hey all,

Starting a FT IB job in July. 75% of the new FT hires are already placed in a group through the internship program they did last year while the remaining 25% (me) get placed after 2 months of training. Are the rest of the positions typically filled randomly on an as needed basis or will they be looking at the strength of the candidates to place them into the better groups?

Trying to see if i need to start networking with different groups from day 1 or even before the start date.
