Ok, so it's no mystery now that analysts and associates are essentially paper-pushing monkeys and that discipline and attention to detail will get promotions. With enough hard work and luck, you get promoted to VP/MD and start serving up the deals. But at that level, what does it take to succeed? What sets those mediocre ones from the rainmakers? Is it about what connections you have with CEOs? Knowledge of the industry? Sales ability?
