Sweet confectionery nostalgia may soon change... forever

I had always (and still do) adore sweets. Butterfingers and Crunch bars were among my absolute favorites when I was a kid and I always looked forward to getting them during Halloween (the only time I actually could). Ugh I'm craving for them just from thinking about it... I may very well have developed a sugar hook growing up (oops?)

Good-bye sweet childhood memories.

Candy making firms are facing major pressures by shifting cultural trends towards healthier eating... and for children's attention. And as I'm sure you can guess, Butterfingers and Crunch are anything but healthy (they are still great though and I will always remember them fondly). What does this spell? A breakup from Nestle. I'm also super surprised at Nestle's market share... I always grew up with Nestle and Hershey's. Hershey's large market share I saw coming, but I did not expect Nestle to only be fourth in market share.

And so I'd like to know, 1. Will this be a successful move for Nestle in cutting costs? Will Butterfingers and Crunch remain appealing in the long run? 2. What are your outlooks on the confectionery industry? Will they be able to keep up with the healthier eating trend or die? Or will they always remain a staple part of the global world's culture?
