Switching from coverage to DCM?

Interned in coverage and hated it. DCM matches my interests more and I need somewhat of a WLB. Also wouldn’t mind doing it for the long run given the solid pay and clear promotion structure.

I know this is the opposite of what most people do so should I have any trouble with this during FT placement? Any advice also how to go about this?

I'm in DCM and I don't think it's that uncommon. Two of our associates were in coverage for their analyst years then got sick of the hours and moved over. Since most people (as you mention) go DCM to Coverage you shouldn't have too hard a time to make the move, especially for FT placement. I would just reach out to people in DCM and chat with them. It may be best to try and talk to people who cover clients in the sector that you did your coverage internship in, may make it more convincing.
