Take BB MO offer or keep hustle for FO?

Dear All,

I am in dilemma. I am writing to ask your opinion regarding a job offer that I received at BB.

It is Private Equity Services group at BB. It is a portfolio administration role, assisting clients calculating IRR and reconciliation, etc. It is definitely an operational role, and only thing that makes it as a MO position is that I am interacting with PE clients. It is clear that I won't be doing any modeling, research, pitch, etc.

For my background, I have about a year of full-time internship experience in FO only. I graduated from a non-target university with 3.3 GPA, and just finished four-month internship at a boutique IB (M&A) division of Fortune 500 company. Prior to this internship, I have completed two PE internships.

I would like to pursue my career as a front-office investment professional. My understanding of this position is that transitioning to any such position would be difficult, and that I would need a higher degree such as MBA to move upward. In addition, the company does not have its own PE division, I won't be interacting with front-office within the company, making it impossible to make internal transition to front.

If I don't take this offer, I will be in a situation keep looking for a new opportunity (front-office), putting myself at risk of leaving some time gap in my resume.

The following is my question, but please feel free to add more:

1. What would be the exit opportunity or possible career transition into FO, starting from this PE portfolio administration role.

2. Will this position help me better positioned for MBA admission, compare to boutique FO experience?

3. Is it possible for me to get a front-office role considering my background? I am open to any analytical role, including i-baking, real-estate investment, capital market, etc.

3. Is BB brand name is more important that the type of role? Someone I know mentioned that it is easier to make MO to FO transition with strong brand name than moving from smaller front-office to BB front-office.

I am confident that your advice would be very helpful to make a right career decision. Once I collect your opinions, I will choose either one: Take this offer vs Hustle more to get a FO position.

Thanks in advance.
