The 2021 raises have came out of bonuses

All,

I was interested to see how the Covid raises on base would affect all in comp, poor M&A activity aside, I think we have a good idea.

If $85k was market in 2021 for an AN1 and best bonus you could hope for was 100% then all in you’re looking at $170,000

Base was bumped to $110,000 and $60k bonuses are not uncommon. In this market for analysts. That is neutral to a $100% bonus pre-2021 raises.

Now, what needs to be factored in is the fact we’ve experienced ~14% inflation since midyear 2021. An “all-in comp” with 100% bonus pre base raises from 2021 inflation adjusted today is ~$194k.

To earn a pre-2021 $85k base with 100% bonus inflation adjusted today you would need an $84k bonus on $110,000 base (or 76% bonus). Not seeing many analysts score that range today.

So while markets may be down and all in may be similar, we have not been inflation adjusted.

Best, AnonAN2
