the weirdest networking call with a MD

The weirdest call I have ever had

So I emailed a BB MD on the west coast since I saw he was my from my hometown back from my country - so i used rocket reach to email him since one of the bofa email formats worked for his name, i tried atleast 7 different emails before emailing on his personal gmail (dick move, ig). Funnily, within the first 10 mins of the email, he replied saying he would love to chat on a zoom

so scheduled everything and put on a suit since he was a MD, had a good zoom meeting going on, ironically his internet was pretty shit and he kept disconnecting and joining the zoom again and again. found out that he went to my high school, which was crazy since my hs was extremely small, like 30 kids graduating every year and it was crazy to see a BB IB MD from my HS, so he was shcoked too and we had a bit of nostalgic trip - so he wanted to help me and said ill send ur resume to hr and connect w people since "youre one of the homies" (he deadass said that) and was impressed someone from his hs is going for IB since it was a stem school

after the call, he said he will send him email and phone number to catch up but after the meeting ended, the guy never emailed bruh XD i sent him like 3 follow ups in the course of 3 months and he didnt get back to me - was so weird since that meeting went amazing, talked for 30 min straight and defo expecting good news later on but bro just ghosted me, like so weird - i wanna meet the guy someday and ask him wtf was that

Welcome to networking. It’s happened to you once, it’ll happen again in the future. These guys are always really busy, oftentimes they offer things they later don’t have the energy to commit to. Don’t worry about it, just keep scheduling those calls.

ive had alot of calls, but seeing a guy from my high school is big bro - i cant even imagine any of them in the states and it was crazy to see a MD in IB there
