You still have time to build skills to lateral
The longer you are in cap markets (DCM, ECM, HYCM), the harder it is to lateral and the more down market you need to go.
Try to lateral internally or something down market that is focused in the industry where you have the most experience in.
Don’t worry, nobody who’s done 2 years in coverage or m&a has spectacular skills either
Was pretty shocked when I heard a second year coverage analyst never built an LBO at BofA. How common is this at a BB? At least, at my boutique, first year eventually learns to run most models.
