Those who got top junior summer offers in IB, what did y'all do for freshman summer/sophmore fall?
Looking to hopefully go EB/BB and was wondering what internships you guys did before heading into recruiting.

I didn't have any relevant finance internship experience. For me and several of my friends, the differentiator was crafting powerful stories and being polished on all interview questions

Heavy emphasis on #6. That’s the biggest differentiator
Sophomore summer doesn’t matter as much IMO take the time to chill as it’s your last summer. I did searchfund, LMM PE, and VC internships. Searchfund is a great one to get as a start, but make sure you aren’t doing grunt work and get to look at CIMs and do some modeling.

Search funds. Some manage to get regional boutique IB. But it feels like the freshmen are getting more and more cracked. This year there was a girl that landed MM IB M&A for freshmen summer and top Pension PE for sophomore summer
I see a lot of search funds in fall/spring freshman year mostly as a way to resume-boost for a summer offer. Most freshman summer internships I see have been for small to medium PE firms with a few boutique IB.
Do you have any advice based on what she did on how to get MM IB freshman summer?
No clue - but everyone I know that also knows girl thinks shes a beast. Think she might have had done boutique IB and search fund before entering her freshmen summer internship

Mega-target going to EB — joined a consulting club and did a small search fund internship but when you go to a mega target it’s all based on how hard you network and how personable and prepped you are
